Minerva McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid: Friendship and Memories

This is the first gen fic I recommend here, which is too weird if we consider that gen fic is what I love the most as both a writer and reader. This blog and the Harry Potter fandom—especially when it comes to fanfiction—are taking me to unexpected directions … Anyway, I had decided a few days ago that my first gen fic recommendation here would have to be about either Neville or Minerva. In the end, our powerful Headmistress won the battle. ^^

In this fic Minerva doesn’t look like her usually strong self—at first sight at least. The story is set during the time she had to spent in St. Mungos after having been cowardly attacked while trying to defend Hagrid in OotP. Therefore, the Minerva we see here is a physically weakened woman. Her mental strength is there though, as expected.

Yet, this fic also let us see her softer side, thanks to her interactions with an adorable, perfectly in-character Hagrid. In fact, these interactions are the story’s strongest point, as the author handled them skilfully. Lisa did a great job because she managed to build a touching atmosphere without making Minerva look silly or overly dramatic. And did I mention how adorable Hagrid is in this fanfic? 😉
