In this story, Rita seduces Snape. But she will not be exactly happy with the results.

Chances are this fic will make you fall in love with featherxquill‘s writing style. It’s sharp and sophisticated. The story is short, but this is not an issue: the author only needs a few sentences to tell us a lot about the characters and their relationship. Her characterisation of Rita is excellent.

Lavender Brown/Cho Chang: Learning Curves

“Learning Curves” is a Harry Potter fanfic featuring Lavender and Cho. It’s been written by ragdoll.

What happens in this story? Lavender has been taking private tutoring sessions with Cho, because she wants to learn all about Quidditch to impress her dear Won Won. However, the particular tutoring session we see in this fic ends up including other topics.

Lavender is often taken for granted by Harry Potter fans—I freely admit I’m guilty of this myself. One of the best things about this story is the author’s ability to make us sympathise with her and try to view things from her perspective. This story made me want to read more (good) fics about (fleshed out) Lavender, and for this I’m deeply grateful to ragdoll. She also did a good job with Cho, portraying her as a seductive and confident girl instead of reducing her to a whiny weak character, like many ficwriters would do.

The sex scenes are most definitely hot! Don’t you like the ship Lavender/Cho? No problem; give this fic a try solely for the erotic scenes.

Even if dub-con is among your squicks (it’s certainly among mine), there are no reasons for you to avoid this story, despite its warnings. Trust me: there are no signs of violence, humiliation, blackmailing or borderline non-con in this fic.

Hermione Granger/Poppy Pomfrey: Remedial Healing

“Remedial Healing” is a Harry Potter fanfic featuring Madam Pomfrey and Hermione Granger. It’s been written by Hijja.

In this story, Madam Pomfrey shows Hermione that witches have their own ways to deal with period cramps.

This is certainly not a perfect fic. There are some parts that don’t seem to belong in the story, such as the section about Susan Bones. And Pomfrey eventually does one thing that I found a bit untasteful (no spoilers this time), but that’s just me; maybe other readers will find it exciting. The fact that Hermione is still underage might scare some (many?) people away too.

If you ignore it all though, you may enjoy the fic for what it really is: a quite hot piece of HP femmeslash. As far as erotic scenes go, the author did a good job here.

Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood: The Attack of the Wrackspurts

“The Attack of the Wrackspurts” is a Harry Potter gen fic starring Ginny and Luna. The author’s name is yet to be revealed and will be posted here as soon as I find it out.

This story shows the beginning of the friendship between Ginny and Luna through the former’s eyes. It’s set during their first year at Hogwarts.

I have to admit I didn’t fall in love with this fic at first sight/read. I had to reread some passages to finally realise that yes, this is well worth a rec. Both Luna and Ginny are in character—as well as Molly Weasley, seen in a cameo. It was very clever of the author to connect Luna’s beliefs to Ginny’s issues with Tom Riddle; as you’ll see, the fic’s title makes a lot of sense.

Argus Filch: Leporiphobia

“Leporiphobia” is a Harry Potter fanfic starring Argus Filch (and many, many bunnies :P). The fic’s author is Ayla Pascal, aka curia_regis.

In this story, we find out that Filch is very afraid of rabbits. Much to his distress, Hogwarts receives a huge crowd of leporine visitors.

If you aren’t into crack!fic you may skip this one, although I think you shouldn’t. Not if you don’t want to miss a hilarious story. The whole idea is so creative! And the bunnies, of course, are so cute!

Hedwig, Harry Potter: Nest

“Nest” is a Harry Potter fanfic written by Lovealwayshopes.

This ficlet is written from Hedwig’s POV. She worries about Harry’s condition as a boy who has no actual home.

I really, really wanted to read a fic featuring Hedwig as its main character. When I found this one, I knew I’d have to recommend it. The protective, maternal Hedwig we see in it is believable and her concerns about Harry do make sense, given his situation.

Even if the idea of an owl-who-can-think doesn’t appeal to you, try and give this story a chance. It’s very short, so it won’t take much of your time. 😉

Poppy Pomfrey, Minerva McGonagall: Bedside Manners

“Bedside Manners” is a Harry Potter fanfic featuring Poppy Pomfrey and Minerva McGonagall. Luna Lovegood and Pomona Sprout are also seen in the story. The author’s name will be posted as soon as it’s revealed.

In this story we learn about Pomfrey’s very special technique to get her patients to behave themselves properly.

I loved Poppy’s portrayal in this fic. The character is so likeable! I also loved her interactions with Minerva, whom the author put to good use as well. Luna’s cameo appearance was adorable, and the allusions to Neville made me quite happy.

Although Snape is never seen, he ends up playing an important role in this story, as the author skilfully mentions him several times in order to show us more about Pomfrey’s and McGonagall’s state of mind.

Minerva McGonagall/Rolanda Hooch: At Arm’s Length

“At Arm’s Length” is a Harry Potter femmeslash fanfic featuring Madam Hooch and Minerva McGonagall. The author is miss_morland.

This story is set during Snape’s year as Headmaster of Hogwarts. Hooch is disgusted over the school’s situation, but she finds some peace as she spends the Christmas in McGonagall’s company.

It’s a very well-written story. I’ve never cared too much for Madam Hooch, but with this fic the author almost turned me into a fan of hers, for her portrayal made her quite likeable. The erotic moments are great and the author cleverly took advantage of such scenes to keep Minerva in character.

Ginny Weasley/Voldemort: The Road Less Travelled

“The Road Less Travelled” is a Harry Potter fanfic starring Ginny Weasley and Lord Voldemort. The author’s name hasn’t been revealed yet; as soon as I find it out, I’ll update this post with the info.

In this AU fic, Ginny has never forgotten Tom Riddle, so she ends up joining Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

This is a twisted fairy tale, as you’ll see when you read the first and the final sections. What we have in between these parts is a gripping story, led by a fascinating dark!Ginny.

The author avoided all of the possible saccharine traps that a Ginny-who-still-cares-for-Riddle fanfic might hide. Instead of writing a silly romance, s/he focused on the ongoing war as a way to develop the plot and the characters. This (correct) choice makes the story all the more compelling.

Death Eaters, Voldemort: Parody Denied

“Parody Denied” is a fanfic featuring Bellatrix and Rodolphus Lestrange, Lucius Malfoy, Severus Snape and Voldemort. It’s been written by Janus.

In this ficlet, Bellatrix offers Voldemort a suggestion during a Death Eater party.

I’m not sure about the author’s intentions, i. e., I can’t tell whether this was meant to be a comedy or something else. All I can say is that I found the fic amusing. The third paragraph is priceless!

Dolores Umbridge: Meddlesome Human

“Meddlesome Human” is a Harry Potter gen fic about Dolores Umbridge. It’s been written by Ayla Pascal.

Umbridge is probably the most hated character in the Harry Potter universe. However, this doesn’t mean one shouldn’t read fanfics about her. To be honest, although I hate her myself, I also find her a fascinating character; thus you can expect me to recommend more Umbridge fanfiction in the future.

This is Ayla Pascal’s take on what the centaurs may have done to Umbridge in OotP. It’s very well-written. As you read the fic, you feel that the characters’ thoughts and sensations are all real. The author’s ideas are truly convincing; they could be canonical indeed, for they do make sense.

Hagrid, McGonagall, Dumbledore, Snape: This Christmas

“This Christmas” is a Harry Potter fanfic featuring Rubeus Hagrid, Minerva McGonagall, Albus Dumbledore and Severus Snape. The author is strav.

The fic is divided into four sections, each of them dealing solely with one of the aforementioned characters. I found Minerva’s part to be the weakest of all, mainly because it’s too vague. The author might argue this was intentional. However, McGonagall has never been a particularly sentimental character; her rather dramatic portrayal in this fic makes her look a bit OOC, which is why I believe a deeper explanation on her feelings was necessary.

Hagrid’s section is O.K. It could be better. It lacks something. More emotion, perhaps.

By now you must be wondering why I’m recommending this fic anyway.

Remember, this story has four sections. The first half may not be as good as it could have been, but the second one is engaging enough to win a reader’s heart. I won’t tell you much about it; I’ll let you see for yourselves. All I’ll say is that Albus’ section is lovely and amusing, and that the author saved the best for last by making Severus’ section the final one.

Minerva McGonagall, Rubeus Hagrid: Friendship and Memories

“Friendship and Memories” is a Harry Potter fanfic starring Minerva McGonagall and Rubeus Hagrid. It’s been written by LisaT.

This is the first gen fic I recommend here, which is too weird if we consider that gen fic is what I love the most as both a writer and reader. This blog and the Harry Potter fandom—especially when it comes to fanfiction—are taking me to unexpected directions … Anyway, I had decided a few days ago that my first gen fic recommendation here would have to be about either Neville or Minerva. In the end, our powerful Headmistress won the battle. ^^

In this fic Minerva doesn’t look like her usually strong self—at first sight at least. The story is set during the time she had to spent in St. Mungos after having been cowardly attacked while trying to defend Hagrid in OotP. Therefore, the Minerva we see here is a physically weakened woman. Her mental strength is there though, as expected.

Yet, this fic also let us see her softer side, thanks to her interactions with an adorable, perfectly in-character Hagrid. In fact, these interactions are the story’s strongest point, as the author handled them skilfully. Lisa did a great job because she managed to build a touching atmosphere without making Minerva look silly or overly dramatic. And did I mention how adorable Hagrid is in this fanfic? 😉

Severus Snape/Pomona Sprout: Trapped

“Trapped” is a Harry Potter drabble starring Severus Snape and Pomona Sprout. The author is Celandine Brandybuck.

I’m not overly fond of drabbles, but this one is quite amusing. Celandine successfully gets her message across in a few words, as she manages to put both Snape and Professor Sprout to good use. In the end, I was left wanting to read a bit more on this involuntary (on Snape’s side) pairing.

Percy Weasley/Ginny Weasley: A Galleon and a Good Time

“A Galleon and a Good Time” is a Harry Potter fanfic about incest, featuring Percy and Ginny Weasley. Errrr … well, yeah. No wonder it falls under my “guilty pleasures” category.

This story has been written by thegildedmagpie.

Besides dealing with incest, this Harry Potter fanfic also includes “chan,” i. e., an underaged character engages in activities of a sexual nature. I’m talking about 12-year-old Ginny. Yeah.

Normally I avoid this kind of story. However, I don’t know what happened to me this time, because … well, I caught myself reading and actually enjoying the fic. Percy’s characterisation is excellent, the hot scenes are *hot* indeed and the final paragraph is even dirtier than the rest of the story.

Do not read this Harry Potter fanfic if you don’t feel comfortable with its controversial topics. I’m warning you. On the other hand, if you’re O.K. with incest, chan and the such, you’ll probably love this story.
